Yesterday I attended one of the @UP_Cornwall Future Focus events at the Eden Project and, if there was ever a day I needed to be in the office, it was yesterday. We were handling a complex, time sensitive licensing challenge that only I could tackle – I needed to be in the office. Idenna is doing great and I’ve got a great coach already, I didn’t feel like I needed any support or additional input. In fact, I had a whole plethora of excuses as to why I didn’t need to go, and it wasn’t the best use of my time. However, I was wrong – and here’s why.
On arrival, I was greeted by a new start on the Unlocking Potential team: she was bright, breezy, confident and a great networker. My mood lifted instantly. Lesson learned, be that person.
Both keynotes (@IamLaraMorgan and @robertsalvoni) were awesome in their own way. I know that Idenna is doing great, but I also know it could always do better, and the best way to learn is through great people. It’s important to take advantage of these opportunities.
The last question from the floor (from @tompughjones) made me laugh. Comic timing, great listening, and good observation. There are some great people out there: these events are an opportunity to spread your wings and meet some of them.
The Future Focus Lab was packed full of some incredibly useful insights from the remarkable Lara Morgan. So many lessons learned, what were they? I’m not telling you! Book, go yourself, stop making excuses.
Oh and the team sorted the licence challenge whilst I was out. Lesson learned, the team can figure it out!
As ever a big thanks to the Unlocking Team for another one of their fantastic events.
