Ladyvale
Brief
When we were first approached by Ladyvale Bakery, a family-run bakery and handmade cake creator in Newquay, to help create their brand identity and launch their new café in Nansledan, we instantly knew we wanted to design something that looked as good as the Ladyvale cakes taste. Owners David and Lara wanted a branding campaign which reflected the elegant, sophisticated nature of the cakes themselves – and that’s exactly what we created.
The Plot
Initially taking a consultant role, we brainstormed a few ideas with Ladyvale about how best to get the café on the map. Creating a clear, coherent brand was naturally important, but creating some real buzz around the opening was equally important. After deciding upon an interconnected digital words/visuals strategy of social media content, blog posts, press releases and café photography, we also worked on the physical design elements to produce menu content (which didn’t make us hungry at all…) and illustrations to incorporate into their branding.
On the design front, we found pastel colours best captured the joyous, uplifting identity of the business. With this in mind, we designed a new company logo and eye-catching banners to run alongside social media competitions, incorporating floral patterns regularly seen on the tiered masterpieces. Bright, energetic and looking so good you could almost taste it.
What happened next?
Ladyvale’s grand opening was a huge success with the PR featuring on the front pages of multiple local newspapers. The launch competition post reached almost 2,000 people, helping the Ladyvale Facebook page gather over 1,500 likes by the time the café was officially opened. Not only was the new Ladyvale logo printed onto the shop front and embroidered onto staff aprons, it was also turned into a lovingly hand-painted mural feature for the shop itself! This now acts as the perfect background for Instagram pictures and is one of the most popular photos when customers visit the shop, resulting in lots of user-generated social media content. From this platform, Ladyvale Bakery is well-positioned for a long and profitable stay in Newquay.
